Divine Redeemer Small Groups welcome you . . . .
If you have been part of a small group in the past, then you know what to expect – fellowship, friendship, engaging conversation, and a growing ability to pray with others.
If this is your first time in a small group, Great! You are in for a nice journey.
Generally, a small group meets once a week for around 90 minutes or so. There is no homework per se, but many people prefer to read the book, or watch part of the companion videos before the next meeting.
The host provides the place to meet, but generally members of the group take turns bringing snacks (if any).
The group generally reads some of the material together (or watches the video), and then discusses it. There will be a chance to pray together, and it’s typical for the group to pray for specific needs – a sick family member/friend, wisdom for an upcoming career change, surgery, or anything that a member of the group would like pray for.
We will be using the videos and book from Dr. Edward Sri's "The Art of Living the Cardinal Virtues and the Freedom to Love". It’s a great book. We live in a society that can routinely send rockets and people into outer space and yet our society seems to have lost the ability to love and act prudently. Two recommendations that Dr Sri makes are to study the lives of the saints, and to live in Christian community. Do you have people in your life who are praying for you? Do you have people that you can ask to pray for you? Do you have people in your life who share your faith? Do you wish you did??
This is the Lent to find out. Come and join us as we walk through Lent together. Signups will begin on February 19th. The Small Groups will start meeting the week of March 6th.
