Center for Hope is a faith based community center that serves our neighbors in Ambridge. A group of parishioners prepares and serves a meal once a month (the 2nd Thursday) to the clients at Center for Hope.
A menu is sent out via email at the beginning of each month and volunteers sign up for what they can provide for that meal. We use the website “Sign Up Genius” to easily organize the donations for each dinner. This ministry is a wonderful way to make a difference in the lives of those who may be struggling with food insecurity. We invite you to contact Karen Thompson with any questions or to have your email added to the Sign Up Genius volunteer list. Thank you!

Recognizing that human life at every age has been sanctified by the Incarnation (in which God became man, first as a single-celled Zygote inside Mary), the Respect Life Committee seeks to defend human life through prayer, service, and witness. We have placed ourselves under the patronage of Saint Gianna Molla. Our projects include a permanent box outside St. James' front door, where parishioners may drop off diapers, wipes, and gently-used maternity, infants', and children's clothing. We give all donated items directly to families in need or to local pregnancy help centers, such as Choices and Genesis. For more info or to join us, please contact Elsie at 412-944-8922 or [email protected].

The bereavement ministry is particularly for those who have experienced a loss and are still in the grieveing process. We understand that everyone processes grief at their own pace.
We also welcome volunteers who would like to support those in the midst of a loss, such as providing food and comfort, serving at Mass, visiting funeral homes, and other services.
Please contact Jim at 412-741-6650 x317 or [email protected]

Inspired by Gospel values, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, a Catholic lay organization, leads women and men to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering in the tradition of its founder, Blessed Frédéric Ozanam, and patron, St. Vincent de Paul. The Divine Redeemer Conference helps those in need in the Quaker Valley, Coraopolis and Neville Island areas. We often work with other agencies such as Union Aid and the Salvation Army to name a few and are funded primarily through the kindness of our parishoners. Those interested should contact John Nard at 724-251-9169 or [email protected]
Father Paul shared with us years ago that the youth in his village are in dire need of healthy mentorship and education; a direction to choose over drugs and destruction. We began to dream together as to how Divine Redeemer and St. James school could help. Through prayers, dreaming and discussion, we have received a long term ask from Father Paul’s diocese to eventually build a youth center in his village. This project is one that will be ongoing.
Today, we will begin with relationship building and support from our parish and school families We would like to invite each of you to join in this mission as we form pen pals between our youth and the youth in Father Paul’s village.
